April 20, 2015

Honduras has got to be the hottest place on the face of this earth... So this has been the hottest week here and I felt like I about died every day. Its hot in Cali but compared to here, its nothing. When I step out of the shower, I am suddenly wet again from the humidity. It has been soo hot, that me and the other missionaries got heat rashes (Ya, I didn't even think that existed either but ohhhh boiiii does it exist) Its a rash that itches and burns and gets worst when you sweat and are hot so I don't think its going to go away anytime soon. haha

Also this week, the pump for the whole colony broke so there has been no running water for 6 days. There is drinking water when the trucks pass around but no one has water to bathe or too wash clothes. Sooo, it has been a real tough week for everyone. But there is one spigot at the end of the colony that everyone goes to with there bottles, jugs and anything they can use to put water in. But its super sad, because there is only one so everyone in this colony goes there and there is always a huuuuge line with lil kids waiting to bathe which absolutely breaks my heart. But also in the church they have running water, so we have spent a good portion of our week running around passing out water. I know I have been here for 9 months, but i'm stil not totally accustomed to it. I still feel sometimes like I am in a whole different world. But as crazy as it is, I absolutely love it here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What an amazing experience we had this weekend...
We have been constantly working with the Family Valladares for the last 3 months to get married and baptized. And long story short.. This Saturday they took the step to get married and entered waters of baptism. It was the most amazing experience of my mission so far. We have worked so hard, prayed, fasted and finally to see the happiness in their family and the blessings that they have received makes me light up brighter than the sun.
Honestly, this was the best day of my mission so far because I felt a joy and happiness fill my heart more that was something like I have never felt before. It was a different kind of feeling to see the happiness in the lives of other people who I have grown to love so dearly.
I know that The Lord put this family in our hands and for that reason I am sooo grateful with my Heavenly Father. I love Him and I know that he strengthens and lifts me up when I feel like I cant go anymore. I know it is sometimes hard to feel Him in your life, but if you open your hearts he will enter and fill the emptiness in your life that you never knew you had. I say that because he has done just that in my life!
All 8 of us in white. it was dope (Pres Klein came too)

I love this crazy old couple...
Guadalupe and Celixta

Me and some of my lil homies playing with papolitas "kites" (plastic bag with a string attached to it)

We were passing by, and saw this old guy digging a hole and didn't even ask him if he needed help. We just jumped in the whole, took his shovel and started digging. We found out that the pipe broke, and his house was flooding of poop and who knows what else. Soooooo me and my comp Elder Fuentes digging a hole in the middle of the day in the straight summer... putting in work!

(I was told not to dare post this on the blog... but he wanted to show me much he was sweating. He said this was right when he got out of the shower and got dressed. He said he is literally drenched in sweat 24/7!)

April 6, 2015

Wowww.. What a dope week this was. First because I am riding on a spiritual high because of the General Conference. It was a little different this year because I was actually able to understand what they said. haha We watched it in the stake center so we had all the Gringos (white boys) in one room watching it in English.
But coming home from the 2 day 10 hour conference that we had, I truly feel that those men that spoke to us are chosen leaders of God that run his true church on the Earth today. There is not a doubt in my mind that they are the chosen men and woman to guide us in these latter days.
I could go and on about the messages that touched my heart but that would be too easy. I invite and urge everyone of you to open your hearts and watch the talks of this General Conference. I promise you that if you go in with the right mindset, willing to change and find out what you need to do to know Christ on a better level, you will receive revelation on how you can do that.
Sure, I received a lot of revelation but the one thing that really pierced my heart and I realized why I am truly serving a mission is because of the love I have for Jesus Christ. He is my Lord and my Savior!!! I love him with all my heart and I know that he lives. I know that he sacrificed every class of pain and affliction, sadness and fatigue, to pay for our sins. I know that he sweat blood from every pore in the Garden of Gethsemane and was crucified on the cross of Calvary. I know that he died but I also know that he was resurrected and rose the third day. And because he rose the third day, he overcame death so that one day we can all overcome death and live again. I know that he picks me up and carries me when I cant do it myself. I know that his spirit is with us in all times, in the good and the bad. I love him and am striving every single day to praise him and show him my love. I have seen with my own eyes his power; I have witnessed him find and save lives here in the last 8 months that I have been here in Honduras!
No matter where we are at in our lives, we are all trying to find him. I hope and encourage that everyone of you can strive to know him!

I love you and am grateful for all your love and support.

I read this quote daily and I know that it will help you too..

"Everyone of us deserves to know that things will get better.. My declaration is that this is precisely what the Gospel of Jesus Christ offers us, especially in times of need. There is help.. there is happiness.. Do not quit. You keep walking, you keep trying.. It will be alright in the end. Trust God and believe in good things to come.. Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don't come until heaven, but for those who embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ, they always come."
